Mountain Pine Beetle is one of the biggest threats to pine trees in the province of Alberta. Since 2010, Tree Canada has partnered with the Government of Alberta’s Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to fight this threat through our #OperationReLeaf Alberta Mountain Pine Beetle initiative. We are offering grants ranging from $200 to more than $3000 to homeowners, private landowners and municipalities for the replacement of trees and the recovery of forests affected by mountain pine beetle on private or municipal lands in Alberta.
Who can apply?
This grant is open to Alberta residents, private landowners and municipalities who want to replace—or who already have replaced—trees affected by mountain pine beetle. The minimum grant application amount is $200.
You may submit multiple applications.
If you have a quote for the cost of replacing the trees, it should be included in your application. If your replacement trees have already been planted, please include scanned copies of the receipts. These receipts must include the species of trees that were planted.
At least one photo of the completed project must be submitted before funds will be released. Before photos are also very welcome.
The deadline for submitting a grant application is November 15, 2017. Trees must be planted in calendar year 2017 in order to be eligible for this grant.
